FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where did the term 'Medium' come from?

The term or name 'Medium' comes from the way in which the connection occurs - a spirit must lower their vibration to connect  with us on the earthly plane while a medium must raise their vibration in order to connect with spirit and then they meet in the middle, hence the term 'Medium'!

Is there a difference between a psychic and a medium?

Yes, there is a difference between a psychic and a medium.  Have you heard the saying "All mediums are psychics but not all psychics are mediums"?  This means that a psychic connects to the sitter (the person getting the reading) on a psychic level - they read the energy of the sitter and can give accurate information on them and their personal life.  A medium connects to the sitters loved ones who have passed in to the spirit world, to bring evidence to show they are really linking to this specific individual but also connect to the sitter on a psychic level as well.

What if I want to hear from a specific loved one for my reading?

While there may be a certain loved one you are really hoping to hear from, please understand there is no guarantee on communication from specific loved ones - Lynda gives the information as it is received.

Keep in mind that not all spirits know how to communicate with a medium.  Sometimes they are still learning  on their side - it takes energy on their part to come through.  So if you do not hear from a specific loved one do not be disappointed or take it personally - try to connect with them at another time.

How long should I wait after a loved one has passed on to get a mediumship reading?

There is no set answer as to when a spirit will come through but Lynda recommends that you wait at least 6 months to 1 year after the passing.  Once they have transitioned into the spirit world they too go through a grieving and transition period.  They have to adjust to leaving behind their physical world, ailments, and baggage.  They are also reuniting with all of their loved ones who have passed before them.  Whether they come through also depends on your current state of grief.  If your grief is overwhelming it can act as a wall and block the connection.  If you give yourself a bit of time with the grieving process you will be in a better place for the messages to come through.  If you feel that you can not wait 6 - 12 months for a reading Lynda suggests that you look for a group reading setting and at the very least will walk away with a better understanding and often inspired even if your loved one does not come through.  Many Spiritualist Churches offer Message Nights at very reasonable rates.  Know that when it is time, your loved one will come through to bring you love and support from the other side.

What can I expect in a mediumship reading?

It is natural to be nervous, especially if this is your first time but rest assured there is nothing to be nervous or afraid of!  Lynda will put you at ease and bring through your deceased loved ones to provide you with evidence that they are still very much a part of your life.  This often provides needed closure and support for those who are grieving.  Your loved ones in the spirit world  usually offer messages of support, love and healing while giving information that is specific to you and something only you would understand.

How can I get the most out of my reading?

Come with an open mind and do not have any expectations!   Be open to receive a message from who ever in spirit that has made the effort to come through for you, even if it is not who you are hoping for.  Often it is someone in spirit coming through with what you need to hear rather then what you want to hear.  Be respectful of the effort they have made to communicate with you.

Be in a clear state of mind - no  alcohol before your reading.  Also, refrain from eating a heavy meal, or too much caffeine or sugar prior to the reading.  Believe it or not this can impact your vibration and the quality of the connection.

Be sitting somewhere removed from distractions or noises, phones, family  (including children)  and pets.

Just before your reading take some deep breaths, or even meditate or pray to lift your own vibration, making it easier for spirit to connect. It is also a good way to  send your intentions to the spirit world.

During your reading refrain from giving too much information - let Lynda give you the evidence that your loved one is there with you.  Lynda prefers to not be told anything in advance.

Mediumship is  a 3 way communication, between spirit, the medium and you the sitter.  The sitter can block the link or energy by focusing on what they want to hear,  who they want to hear from and even a small detail that might not be validated such as that one word you are hoping to hear.  This can make it difficult for any messages to come through.  Your open mind is key to a successful reading!

Can I have a friend or family member with me?

Messages from spirit are deeply personal and often emotional and intended for one person.  If you wish to have support with you or someone to take notes that is allowed, however Lynda asks that you are aware that there is a rare chance their loved ones may slip into the reading or a message may come through for them during your reading time slot.  (If a Mediumship Reading is for 2 to 3 people an additional $15 per person will be charged).

How often can someone get a reading?

As often as you feel it is necessary but Lynda recommends no sooner then every 4 - 6 months.  You need that time to process all the information given to you and also to allow your life to play out.
